Notre Dame BCS?
Hey we beat these guys...give us some credit.Let me say first of all, that my blogs will be very infrequent for the next two weeks. In the most manly way possible, I have procrastinated and therefore will have my nose in books for the last two weeks of school. But before I say goodbye I wanted to take one more gut shot at Notre Dame.
Why the heck is everyone talking about giving the Fighting Irish a BCS bid? Looking at their schedule, they have defeated ONE, yes only ONE, top 25 team. That top 25 team, Georgia Tech, very well could have beat them and was the first game of the year. Notre Dame's two games against top 10 teams (USC, Michigan) haven't really been close, and they should have lost to lowly Michigan State. Oh, but lets not forget they have beaten the Military tri-fecta of Army, Navy and Air Force.
Don't get me wrong, Ole Miss would NOT beat Notre Dame, but we at least played LSU, Auburn, and Arkansas. Heck, we played LSU and Auburn close. Our resulting record is 4-8 with a big 3 point win over Miss. State. But hey, the team showed improvement, and we can always talk about next year.

If Notre Dame played the easiest possible SEC schedule...
Mississippi State 7 times

Vanderbilt 1 time
They'd probably go 6-2...
...but hey, the BCS hasn't produced a real national champion since 2003, so why not put the Irish in...
you don't think Texas was the legitimate national champion last year??? BCS did it's job in 2005
I would have to agree with Alex. Last year was a true national championship game....but other than that, there has been plenty of controversy
Brian, use your Marketing Degree to convince the Media that we are Catholic (still one last poll this year!) We could make the top 25!

I just meant that since the strength of schedule component was removed (after the 2003 LSU championship) the national championship has been a lot more attainable for USC, the OU/Texas winner, and Notre Dame...because they don't get punished for only playing 2-3 good teams a year...

Ok, USC lost today. Michigan already lost to Ohio State so they should not play them again for the NC. Florida is not looking like they are going to beat Arkansas. Let me be the first to predict an LSU-Ohio St. Championship Game.
