Count Your Blessings Georgetown

May I take the soapbox for a minute. There I was on Friday night cheering for the Vanderbilt Commodores. The clock rolls down and they are playing GREAT defense. They had the guy pinned to the point where his only option was a fade away with a guy in his face. But lo and behold, he CHANGES pivot feet and goes to the goal.

I once believed those kind of things only happened to Ole Miss. However, I quickly remembered being a Vandy fan might be harder. How many times have things gone wrong for Vanderbilt? Gray, Mark and I always laugh at the various ways Vandy finds a way to lose...especially in football.

Back to my point. Did anyone notice how BILLY PACKER or Jim Nantz never said a word about the walk. They were so excited about Georgetown taking down an SEC team, that they were just uncontrollably spitting out excitement. It was an absolutely ridiculous no-call. I can understand not calling a questionable foul at the end of a game, but a walk is NOT a subjective call.

My question is this. Who is counting their blessings more? Who has caught the bigger breaks? Is it Ohio State? They came back from massive deficits twice...and oh yea, Greg Oden was not whistled for an intentional foul. Or is it Georgetown (see above)?
I think everyone enjoys watching the SEC lose.

And one more thing before you watch the video if you so choose. I always love when celebrities give us the opportunity to glean from their intellect in all areas of life. Apparently, Sean Penn was the main attraction an an Oakland Anti-War town hall meeting. Penn eloquently offered no solution to the war, but simply told President Bush to take his war and shove it. Thanks Sean, so helpful. Now enjoy the no call travel

During yesterday's game against Carolina, Packer still said it was not a travel. He even broke out the telestrator and used super slow motion to make his point. I couldn't believe he sat there and continued to say it was not a travel while we got to watch his pivot foot come off the ground over and over again.

I have Georgetown winning it all, so I'm not that upset by it. I was more upset with John Thompson coaching like a four year old girl.

Billy Packer is a douchebag. That man also said that Duke player caving in Hansbrough's face was completely by accident and that he did not intend to hit him at all.

He also hates on the mid-majors getting tournament berths, particularly the Missouri Valley Conference (dunno why, since they typically pull off an upset or two).

As for that UNC vs Georgetown game, as a Tarheels fan my fears were validated. The Heels need to learn how to play a full game, as their inability to do so ending up costing them (finally).

Sean Penn is enough of a good actor that I want to like him, but I can't stand the personality. Do you guys remember when he took a TV crew to New Orleans after Katrina to showcase his own humanitarian aid?

I'm pretty pissed at the Gators right now for giving me a few near heart attacks, but I'm still pulling for them.

i hate billy packer more than anybody, and i disagree with him 99% of the time, except when he makes his obvious statements like "whoever scores the most points tonight will win this ballgame" but as much as i would have liked to see vandy win, i don't think it was travel. the pivot foot is allowed to come off the ground, so long as the ball is gone before it comes back down. if you look at the old guys like kareem, he would have "travelled" every time he did his sky hook if this was in fact a travel. same with magic. they would set their right foot for the pivot, then spin left, and jump off their left foot. i hate agreeing with billy "fudge" but i think he's right here

and does anybody else feel like osu is the new duke? they were given two games in a row just because the media has their head up thad matta's butt. i'm really tired of officiating playing such a decisive rule in games. i've never done it, but is it so hard to just let the players decide the games instead of giving an osu team that refused to even go into the paint 30+ times

Ugh. I hate being wrong and it happens so much.

While I dislike Ohio State and think Thad Matta has made a million bad decisions in the Tournament, he finally made a good one against Memphis. He played zone most of the game against a team that has one three point shooter and a bunch of guys that can't score from outside of 8 feet.

When Memphis played Texas A&M (one of my Final Four teams), I was screaming at the tv and Billy Gillespie to start playing zone. Did he? Nope. Thanks Billy. I hope you enjoy watching the FInal Four as much as I do.

Billy Packer is the NCAA's version of Bill Walton. Obvious emphatic statements as if we are blown away...thanks "Bills". Seriously, if i have to listen to Bill Walton rave about Steve Nash one more time, i'm gonna take that bong he smokes and shuv it up his ginormous schnoz!

but bill walton knows that he is making ridiculous statements, so it's ok. billy packer thinks he's being for real, and he just sucks. please never ever compare the great bill walton and billy fudge ever again.

Bill Walton still has no business ever being on national TV
