Weekend Comments

Start the ESPN Hype

College Football
The Ole Miss Rebels are in the cellar. Miles, Gray, and I loaded up on the Rebel Express and headed to Auburn. It's about as bad as it gets right now. There is no debating the fact, Ole Miss is the worst team in the SEC....by far. Auburn's defense is good, but our offense made them look like the New England Patriots. Let's move on to basketball season please

Tennessee might have saved Fulmer's job. I'm not a Tennessee fan, so I don't know all the inside scoop, but if they had blown a 21 point 2nd half lead, that might have been it. Now it looks like they are back in the driver's seat of the East. (see preseason picks...yours truly had them winning the East).

Division III Football
If you have not seen this clip of how my (and Kurt's) beloved Millsaps Majors lost, well it's better than any backyard football play I've ever pulled off. It's hard to follow the ball, but just take a look. To make things worse, this play pretty much knocked the Majors out of the playoffs.

NFL Football
Don't look now, but the New Orleans Saints are showing signs of life again.
Oh, and in case you have not heard. The Patriots and the Colts play this weekend. Just flip it to ESPN and you will see some sort of preview for the game within 5 seconds. I believe they are calling it SuperBowl 41 1/2. Be prepared for the hype all week.

first of all with the college football Brian...while the SEC may not have a bunch of "juggernaut" teams, it is as crazy and deep as it has ever been. The SEC is the only conference where any team can really beat anybody. It is insane, the only team really "out" of the SEC east race is South Carolina. Ole Miss is the worst team in the SEC, but they may be the (spare the oxy-moron) the best 'worst' team in recent SEC times. They were very competitive with Georgia, got screwed against Alabama, had a chance to beat Auburn.

I guess the Tennessee game "saved" Fulmer's job...for now, it was the most pathetic win. They only won b/c South Carolina kept turning the ball over. It will take more self-destructive opponents for them to win out.

...more on the Colt/Pats later - but I strongly believe they are still cheating..

Prediction:

New England 45

Indianapolis 24

The Pats have a huge chip on their shoulder b/c everyone's calling them cheaters (and suggesting their championships are tainted) even though most every team does that and it wasn't even against the rules the last time they took home a ring. They already owned the Colts (save the AFC Championship last year) with Troy Brown, David Patten, and Antoine Smith. How bad will it be with Moss, Stallworth, Welker, and Maroney? Oh, and they've been playing without Richard Seymour on the D-line. There's no telling how bad they'll hammer the Jets the next time around. Will they score 100 points? Nothing is out of the question with that team. Now if only someone could light that kind of fire under the Saints...

Kurt, your game prediction may not be that off - but your other comments were. The pats are cheaters, not everyone does it and their championships are tainted.

But more importantly...THEY DO NOT OWN THE COLTS...That statement is absurd, and sounds too close to Bill Simmons. The colts have won 3 in a row over them, 2 of them were blowouts. The series is basically even (if anything, Colts have their number).

But I do think that this game will be a bigger deal to Brady and Billichick than they say it is...it is personal for them. I hope Dwight Freeney breaks Tom Brady's skinny neck.
